Developmental toddler toys are meant to do just that-aid in the development of your toddler. Their development can be in many different areas such as cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral. Most likely, most of the developmental toys are going to be geared towards the cognitive and more intellectual development for toddlers. This is probably due widely to the fact that, after all, cognitive and intellectual abilities are easier to test and measure, even if you are measuring a baby. Some say giving these type of learning toys to toddlers is a way of robbing their innocent, blissful baby time. But in my opinion, the sooner we start teaching and developing our children in the way they should go, the better!

If you are the type of family that likes to do outdoorsy stuff like camping, hiking, fishing, or simply hanging out by the lake, and you have little ones, it is a good thing to take extra gear that will keep the little ones entertained and safe while outdoors. This is where toddler outdoor toys come in handy. Now, our toddlers have their own small tents they can set up, or their own plastic firewood and marshmallows to pretend to roast. These types of toys really come in handy so that they won't play with adult outdoor tools that may harm them. We all know children are always curious, especially toddlers, now they can explore their curiosity all they want with safe outdoor toys made just for them.

It may not be easy to go to a toy store or a baby store and find an autistic toddler toys isle. But, if you're child does have special needs and you are on the search for something that can help him or her improve certain developmental skills, then it may be a good idea to learn a few things that you can add to a pre-existing toy to make it autism appropriate. Depending on your child's strength and weaknesses, there may be some gadgets or colors that you can add or remove from a toy to make it more targeted for him or her. Toddler Boy Toys vs. Toddler Girl Toys?

As much as society is trying to eliminate gender stereotypes and schemas, I am surprised there are still such things as toddler boy toys. But still, the fact remains that boys do end up playing with toys that we usually don't see toddler girls playing with. Our male little ones usually enjoy playing with toys like monster trucks, toy race cars, action figures, and things like that. We don't see our little boys playing with doll houses or Barbies right? Well, we usually don't anyway. I always thought it shouldn't matter what kind of toys are toddler boys or girls play with. Isn't it too early to tell what sort of gender roles our young ones are going to play based on their toddler toys?

A Little About Autistic Toddler Toys

When I think of autistic toddler toys, the first thing that comes to mind is the obvious: isn't it better, or at least more politically correct, to call them "toys for toddlers with autism?" I mean come on! Well, who would have thought there were toys that were specially made for special toddlers? Especially since toddlers that have autism usually don't have too many differences in the way they play with toys as compared to other children. That is, if they are interested in playing with toys at all.

It's been my experience that some children with autism are more interested in playing with objects that are not necessarily meant to be used as toys. For example: their parent's keys, or the locks on a door. But to me, autistic toddler toys. would be toys that do a better job at grabbing the attention of a toddler, or toys that help boost whatever developmental skill the child may need extra help with.

Where To Find Unique Musical Toddler Toys

I think the best place to find unique toys for toddlers are places like thrift stores or consignment stores. Especially, if someone is on the hunt for unique musical toddler toys, those are the places to look. Those types of stores never carry mainstream items that you may see on the shelves at your local Target or Walmart. Most consignment stores have things that are one-of-a-kind, special, and unique. Another place to find unique toys would be a garage sale.

Now, I'm not saying anything negative about the thrift store or any garage sales, but I would definitely sanitize any toys you buy from there since they did once belong to someone else. But if you have more of a comfort shopping at larger corporate stores, then a few musical toys that are likely to be enjoyed are toy pianos, guitars, or musical rocking chairs.

Thank God For Toddler Bath Toys!!

I've seen babies in the bath tub and trying to get them to stay still and get washed is a task to put it lightly! I'm not even going to mention how wet and messy a toddler bath can get! That's why it is wonderful to have toddler bath toys for them to play with while in the bathtub. At the very least, those toys will take their little minds off of splashing and throwing water on you! When one thinks of toddler bath toys, of course the classic rubber ducky comes to mind. Well, let's take a step into the new millennium here for a second!

I mean, there are toys out there now that totally blow Mr. Ducky out of the pond! There are toy drums for the bath tub, paint sets for the bath tub, and even educational number games for your baby's bath time. Whether you are looking for education, color, mirrors, or simply squirt toys, they will be easy to find--just look for the "rub-a-dub-dub" aisle!
